SITE Thailand and TCEB groom young leaders to become sustainability ambassadors. Organisations can seek new ideas for sustainable development practices.

The Society for Incentive Travel Excellence, Thailand chapter (SITE Thailand) has collaborated with Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) to host the upcoming SITE Thailand M&I Sustainability Advocate Project.

The project starts on 1 September and runs until 15 October 2021, when 146 young ambassadors in Thailand aged 17-25 will present their sustainability practice ideas for the Meetings and Incentive Travel community virtually at the M&I Sustainability Forum. They will become the first class of SITE Thailand Sustainability Ambassador.

Boontawee Jantasuwan, SITE Thailand President, reveals: “SITE Thailand M&I Sustainability Advocate Project is a part of the SITE Thailand advocacy programme for sustainability practice in our industry, SITE’s global movement. We collaborate with TCEB to create an idea incubation platform for young leaders to join up in teams of seven to 10 members and explore the changing landscape of meetings and incentives industry after the pandemic.

“Since Generation Z will become the significant workforce for the corporate world in the next five to 10 years, the M&I sector must reshape our thought process to cater for the next generation clients. They seek sustainable options in all aspects of their lives. They will look for green hotels, local experiences with eco-conscious communities, vegan food or food with minimum waste, and the carbon footprints created by their choices. The young participants will show us the perspectives that could drive our community forward.

“SITE Thailand M&I Sustainability Advocate Project is not a competition. It is a platform to learn about sustainability and create new ideas for actions. All participants will be recognised as SITE Thailand Sustainability Ambassadors. We hope they will pass on the aspiration and knowledge they receive from this project to their friends and future co-workers in the industry. However, there will also be ‘special recognitions for ideas presented in this project with outstanding features such as Creative Champion, Local Lovers, Super Storytellers, and Market-ready.”

Supawan Teerarat, TCEB Senior Vice President—MICE Capability and Innovation as the project’s co-creator, adds: “TCEB would like to encourage the next generation of workforce to come to the MICE industry champion sustainability as the core practice for our business. The world of MICE is looking for a sustainable destination with solid industry practices based on sustainable development. TCEB will empower the younger generation to step up and create new solutions for our industry. SITE Thailand M&I Sustainability Advocate Project will attract young talents to our community, and they will be the leaders of tomorrow, ready to take on the challenges of the future.

The SITE Thailand M&I Sustainability Advocate Project will see 17 teams of young leaders incubating 17 ideas for sustainable practices in the meetings and incentives industry. They will be supported by mentors from SITE Thailand and TCEB, along with curated online resources for sustainable development.
