Meetings and events professionals can advance their international standards through a mix of lectures and practical workshops.
The Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (the Centre) has been chosen to host the three-day IAPCO EDGE Seminar virtually from 25 to 27 August 2021.
Co-organised by the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) and the Centre, with support from the International Association of Professional Congress Organisers (IAPCO), the seminar is designed for Malaysian business events professionals to enhance their skill set and elevate the overall knowledge and expertise of Malaysia’s supply chain to match the industry’s international requirements and demands.
The seminar will feature real-life experiences and case studies from international business events industry leaders to help local meeting and event professionals become more competitive when bidding for international events.
According to Dato’ Sri Abdul Khani, Chief Executive Officer of MyCEB, the seminar will help strengthen and showcase Malaysia’s attractive business events proposition to the world. “This is why we remain extremely commited to engaging with local industry players to help develop and empower them to be on par with, if not surpass, our regional and international counterparts. This is a great opportunity and platform for our industry professionals to enrich their knowledge and skill set to help us grow our industry’s capabilities together.”

Alan Pryor, the Centre’s General Manager said, “Although business events sustained a huge hit due to the pandemic, it has also provided the time for everyone to take a step back and not only plan for the future, but focus on upskilling, learning and development to ensure we are ready for a bigger and better comeback.”
Martin Boyle, Chief Execcutive Officer (CEO), IAPCO shared, “The MyCEB/KLCC partnership with IAPCO was designed specifically for and with Malaysian meeting professionals in mind. It is a truly unique collaborative initiative applying a multi-level approach to understanding the needs in the marketplace and designing a long-term programme that builds upon existing knowledge and skillsets whilst developing enhanced learning and new skills all of which will provide Malaysia with a competitive advantage moving forward. In addition, it has facilitated a direct connection between Malaysian meeting professionals and industry stakeholders with the IAPCO community. I am honoured that our three organisations have come together on such an important and valuable partnership and I congratulate all of the participants that have taken part.”
The IAPCO EDGE Seminar is slated to provide valuable industry insights for business event players. A wide range of topics will be discussed, including current trends and state of the industry, conference marketing in a changing world, successful project management, finance and budgeting and many more.
The IAPCO EDGE Seminar is the latest initiative in the tri-partite collaboration between MyCEB, the Centre and IAPCO. This follows the IAPCO Continued Professional Development programme, as part of Malaysia Business Events Week (MBEW) in August 2020 and the launch of the unique online education platform, IAPCO WebEDGE in May 2020.
