Covid-19 risk pushes trade show to 2022.

Reed Exhibitions has announced that it has moved the inaugural edition of IBTM Asia Pacific in Singapore to April 5-6, 2022.

The decision was taken following the latest government advice on Covid-19 and in-depth discussions with customers and hosted buyers from the region and globally.

Commenting on the announcement, Michael Jones, Event Manager, IBTM Asia Pacific, said: ‘While we see very positive moves towards the gradual return of live events, the situation is still fragile. Although Singapore is considered a safe destination, IBTM Asia Pacific is a global event that attracts an international audience, and therefore we have a desire and a responsibility to give our attendees the safest and best possible in-person experience at a time when hopefully travel restrictions will have been lifted.”

Michael continued: “We had hoped to be able to go ahead with the event this year, and obviously, it is disappointing to have to delay the event for a second time, but the health and safety of our customers, Hosted Buyers, partners and employees is our number one priority.

“We are extremely grateful for the continued understanding of our customers, partners and team. We are committed to Singapore as a host city and look forward to returning to the region next year to meet with as many customers and partners as possible.”

IBTM Wired added to global events portfolio

IBTM Events has also announced the launch of a new online event, IBTM Wired which will take place from June 28 – July 01, 2021. The event is a permanent addition to IBTM’s global portfolio of B2B events and intelligence for the meetings, incentives, conferences and events industry.

The event platform, built by Sector Global, will be open 24 hours a day for the event’s duration so that the global community can tailor their schedule to their time zone. During the event, attendees will embark on a virtual world tour. Each day will provide key insights into a region, from industry outlooks to expert opinions that will help professionals discover new opportunities, expand their areas of focus, and get the latest information on each region’s recovery.

One of the programmes scheduled includes SMF X IBTM Wired on June 28. In partnership with the Singapore Association for Convention & Exhibition Organisers & Suppliers (SACEOS), this year’s hybrid Singapore MICE Forum (SMF) will be integrated as an education programme that focuses on new ways of community engagement, design thinking and innovation.
