Mental fitness is often about having a balanced approach to the way we think, act, or what we set ourselves up to do. In this episode of BEAM FORWARD, we speak with Jakki Govan, Chief Fun Officer of Clockwise Consulting.

She talks about conducting a litmus test to find out where one’s mental fitness is and offers advice for those going into a leadership role. “When you’re on the road to leadership, you’re thinking about work a lot. And that’s okay. Work-life balance doesn’t necessarily need to be about switching off, but you need to give yourself a break. Whether that is having a glass of wine, doing yoga, going for a run or baking a cake – whatever it is, you do need to be able to know how to switch off.”

She also discusses her process of not overthinking things, trusting your gut feel and what she learnt from her years as a mentor and working with some of the most inspiring people. “If you surround yourself with people who will be completely honest with you, whom you can ask the hard questions to… your mental strength can really increase.”
