Experiential marketers applied digital expertise to create multiple immersive touchpoints for the virtual conference.
The brief
The biennial Offshore Technology Conference Asia (OTC Asia) went virtual for the first time from 2 to 6 November 2020. It acted as a platform for the energy industry to reflect on the achievements and aspirations of the region and discuss what it takes for Asia to remain resilient and responsive to a growing energy market.
Pico designed and developed the virtual platform to host the exhibition, which showcased 37 virtual booths, hosted 77 sessions and welcomed 311 exhibitors.
Other than being appointed the official technical service provider for this virtual conference, the Pico team also managed the conference sessions and provided consultancy services for the virtual event.
Ten panel discussions, 50 technical sessions, eight executive dialogues and six country sessions were conducted at OTC Asia 2020, providing engaging and high-level industry dialogues as well as interactive and multidisciplinary technical presentations.
Highlights
OTC Asia 2020 offered an immersive virtual experience on its virtual platform for continuous knowledge-sharing and professional development.
Throughout the five-day conference, visitors could participate as if attending in-person, where they attended the exhibition and conference sessions from anywhere, using any device.
Networking and e-POSTERS lounge
The Networking and e-POSTERS lounge and the Business Matching lounge offered participants networking opportunities with peers and the wider industry. Visitors could join the virtual conference calls with oil and gas industry leaders and world-renowned experts in the lounge.
To make the networking session even more immersive, virtual conference attendees could enter any available room and sit in any available table, similar to joining a physical event’s networking session. The virtual format allowed users to engage in text or video chat on the platform.
Event lobby
At the Business Matching Lounge, attendees could download experts’ papers and stay abreast of emerging technologies through live interaction with exhibitors.
Other notable engaging touchpoints at the virtual event include a live Q&A session, where Pico was the official technical service provider. Presenters and moderators could share files such as text, video and photo files with visitors.
On-demand content from the conference was also made available to registered attendees up to three months after its conclusion.
